On 29 September 2023, new legislation entered into force that has changed the obligations of animal owners. Now the person in charge of an animal must have a third-party liability insurance policy for pets, to compensate any type of harm or damage caused to other people by such animals. However, this aspect will enter into force once it has been enacted by law, so the previous regulation that indicates that it is only mandatory for potentially dangerous dogs remains in force (PDD).
The minimum capital amount to be insured for potentially dangerous dogs is 120,000 euros in Spain, although at regional level there may be upper limits. With SegurCaixa Adeslas’s pet insurance policy, you can have peace of mind since we have third-party liability protection of up to 200,000 euros.

The price of your pet insurance varies based on the scheme that you want to take out. The prices of each SegurCaixa Adeslas pet insurance scheme will not vary, regardless of the type, breed, age or gender of your pet.
In SegurCaixa Adeslas’s basic pet insurance scheme, there is no age limit for cat ordog insurance policies. In the comprehensive scheme, you can insure your pet from 0 to 9 years of age.
Yes, the chip number is one of the necessary details to take out a pet insurance policy. In accordance with the Animal Well-being Law, cats and dogs must be implanted with a microchip for identification purposes. This can be fitted by a vet and your pet will not suffer any harm or side effects. The microchip is especially useful if your pet gets lost or is stolen.
