What is an authorisation?

To be able to carry out certain tests, treatments or interventions, it is necessary to request a medical authorisation.

Tests that your doctor can authorise

Your doctor can provide you with the pre-authorised prescriptions of the most frequent diagnostic tests, so that you can avoid such procedure, in the following areas:

  • Magnetic resonance
  • Pathological anatomy
  • CT-scan
  • Ergometry and Holter
  • Nuclear medicine
  • Optical coherence tomography

If you need to have any of these tests carried out, ask your doctor if they can facilitate the authorisation.

What services require medical authorisation?

Some of the most frequent services that require authorisation are as follows:

  • Physiotherapy: Rehabilitation treatments.
  • Ophthalmology: Intravitreal injection, laser photocoagulation treatments, cataracts operations.
  • Cardiology: Haemodynamic studies and treatments, electrophysiological studies, catheterisation, pacemaker reprogrammings.
  • Digestive system: Any type of endoscopy.
  • Dermatology: Laser surgery and treatment with some type of UVA/PUVA rays radiation.
  • Psychology: Psychotherapy treatment sessions.
  • Any type of hospitalisation: For observation, to receive a treatment or undergo surgery or a birth.
  • Pathology and anatomy: Biopsies that include molecular biology studies.
  • Oxygen therapy and ventilation therapy: All respiratory therapy.

How can I request an authorisation?

Request an appointment for the test or treatment to be authorised

If you still do not have an appointment consult your medical Healthcare Provider List.

We will request the name of the medical centre and the date on which it will be carried out

Prepare your documentation

Keep the authorisation slip or the medical referral at hand. You must attach a photograph in the process.

In some cases, we will request a medical report.

Now access your Health Customer Area

Select the “Authorisations” option and follow the steps.

In only three minutes you will complete your request.

Track and check your request

Check the status from Authorizations > Requests.

In the next 48 business hours you will be able to check the response to your request.

Activate the app notifications to receive information.

Visualise your authorisation requests

You will find information on your requested authorisations and their status.

Download your approved authorization

When your authorisation has been approved, you can download it to present it at your medical center.

You can amplify the information

If we require additional information to manage your authorization, we will indicate it to you and you can attach the documents requested.
